Bachelor of Physiotherapy or BPT is an Undergraduate Program which mainly focuses on the physical movements of the body to treat various conditions & diseases.

Physiotherapists or Physios are often referred to as "movement specialist" as they are trained to assess various physical conditions through body movements. Physiotherapists work on making their patient's lives better mostly through exercises and massage therapies. In very few cases, scientific treatment like electrotherapy is also used.

With the increased awareness about physiotherapy these days, BPT job opportunities are growing high in India and carving out huge job opportunities in abroad as well.

Duration

BPT is a 4-year UG course which deals with the science of physical movement. The course also highlights the importance of 6 months of mandatory clinical internship.

Eligibility Criteria

The candidate should have pursued science stream with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as main subjects. Minimum Age of the Student must be 17 years. A minimum aggregate score of 50% or equivalent CGPA at the 10+2 level is required. The minimum score may vary for SC/ST/OBC Candidates.

Course Fees

Tuition Fees for BPT Program ranges from Rs.80000 to 1.25 lakhs per annum in Various Private Colleges in India.

Career Opportunities

A Physio can be a health counsellor, doctor and physical trainer. There are plenty of BPT job opportunities in these designations in India and in abroad as well. Internship opportunities in some of the finest research institutes are available for physiotherapy graduates which help them further in their careers.  

Candidate can pursue higher studies in MPT course after the BPT course completion to get an in-depth knowledge of the other specializations like pulmonary and cardiovascular, geriatric, sports therapy, orthopaedic, neurological and paediatric, etc.
